Becky McCray over at Small Biz Survival wrote a great, simple post about what it takes to file your first tax return as a sole proprietor. For those of us who've been filing Schedule C's for a while, it's easy to forget how daunting the whole process can be. It's one of the biggest reasons we created Outright - to help self employed folks deal with the complexity of being a "business".
I wonder how big a jump we'll see this year in first-time Schedule C filers. While we don't have hard quantitative data (and there are lots of debates about this,) we've heard a lot of anecdotal evidence that there have been many folks taking the self-employed route out of necessity. Hopefully, we don't have to wait 2 years for the Census data to tell us for sure.
