In the course of talking with customers of Outright, we often get really good questions. In addition to answering them for the person who asks, we thought we'd start sharing some with the broader group. Here's one we received this week:
From Jeff (@jeffreygarofalo):
"Can the Categories under Expenses be modified to mirror the Schedule C? I'm told that the Schedule C includes a category for Education, and that is not available in the Expense Drop-Down Menu."
Our answer:
There are two parts to our answer:
1. We only show a subset of the Schedule C categories by default, but you can go to the Settings tab, click on the Categories link on the side bar, and check additional categories to display in the drop down.
2. Education actually isn't one of the default Schedule C categories - it would go under Part V: "Other expenses" and would roll up to line 27. That said, we're looking into the ability to let users add categories, including those that would normally roll up under "other".
